La Horma in Photos

So a few weeks ago, my host brother Koiki, my host sister Fiol, and her husband Pedro took me out to La Horma in Ocoa, where my host family is from. It was a beautiful little town up in the mountains where it was actually cold. The plumbing hung between mountains on thick metal cables, making a criss-cross pattern of PVC across the valleys. The people were all very friendly and welcoming. We took a trip up into a gorgeous national park called Valle Nuevo, where we saw the center of the Dominican Republic, marked by a stone pyramid. It was really great to see a different part of the country and meet some of my extended Dominican family. Below are a bunch of pictures from the weekend — enjoy!
